Dhaka (formerly known as Dacca) is the capital and largest city of
Bangladesh. It is one of the world's largest cities and the 4th most
densely populated city in the world besides being the economic, political
and cultural axis of the country. Inhabited since the 1st
millennium, the city became famous as the capital of Mughal Bengal for 75
years during the Medieval Period. Dhaka is nicknamed ‘Rickshaw Capital of
the World’ because of the sheer number of the cycle-rickshaws here. Once

Ahsan Manzil
Ahsan Manzil was the official residential palace and seat of the Nawab of
Dhaka. Built during 1859 and 1872, this riverside royal building along the
Buriganga River is a classic signature of Indo-Saracenic Revival
architecture. It is a two-storied palace that is divided into two parts-
the eastern side called Rangmahal and the western side Andarmahal.
Sixty Dome Mosque
The Sixty Dome Mosque is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest
mosque from the Sultanate period in the country. A delightful masterpiece,
this Tughlaq-style mosque has a hut-shaped roofline to cover its 77 domes.
These domes are segregated in seven rows of eleven domes each, with one
dome on each corner to total 81 domes.
Bangladesh National Zoo
Bangladesh National Zoo is 2150 animals from 134 species of native and
non-native animals, birds and other wildlife in Dhaka. There are 58 species
of mammals, more than 1500 birds representing 91 species, 13 species of
reptiles and 28 species of fish.
