The flag airline of Cyprus, Cyprus Airways has undergone abrupt termination from 9 January 2015 onwards. The suspension of flight operations by the airline is a result of a declaration by the European Commission. As per the ruling, the operating license of the company has been sacked on grounds of its illegal monetary aids. The government has announced to make travel arrangements for all the affected Cyprus Airways passengers.

The airline had started its services in 1947. Larnaca International Airport served as its operating base. Prior its immediate halt of air services, the airline was operating daily flights to numerous destinations from Larnaca.
