Fort St. George
The Fort St. George is situated in the city of Chennai and was built in the year 1644. It is said to be the first English fortress in India. It is one of the most noted ancient monuments in the city and is looked after by the Archaeological Survey of India. Initially it was constructed as a trading post for the East India Company. At present the fort serves as a home to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and several other official buildings. The Fort St. George can majorly be divided into two sections-St. Mary's Church & the Fort Museum. The St. Mary's Church is known as one of the oldest churches constructed by the British in India. Within the museum are relics of British personnel who lived here.
Marina Beach

The Kapaleeshwarar Temple is situated in Mylapore, one of the traditional neighborhoods of Chennai. It is a prime shrine of the Lord Shiva. The temple depicts Goddess Parvati worshipping Lord Shiva, in the form of a peacock. The architecture of the temple displays several important architectural elements which are native to the region. These include a rainbow-colored gopuram, pillared mandapas (pavilions), and a huge tank. There are numerous shires within the temple out of which Kapaleeswarar and Karpagambal are most famous.
Government Museum
The Government Museum is another famous tourist spot in the city of Chennai. It is the second oldest museum in the country after the Indian Museum of Kolkata. It is known for archaeological and numismatic collections and also for holding extensive collection of Roman antiquities, outside of Europe. The museum complex consists of six buildings, out of these few are more than 100 years old.
