People's Palace

The People's Palace is a symbol of struggle for the freedom of Djibouti from France. The country attained freedom on 27 June 1977 and the palace was gifted by the People's Republic of China to the Djiboutian civilians to mark the occasion in 1984. Its top draw is the People's Palace Square that contains the Monument of Martyrs, a monument to honor those who laid down their lives for freedom. The square is dotted with several hoisted flags of the Republic of Djibouti.

Decan

Decan is a popular wildlife and nature reserve located about 6 miles away from Djibouti City. Visitors to Decan are awarded with an immersive three-hour excursion through native wildlife and some of the most famous African animal species. Some of the common sights here include cheetahs, caracals, squirrels, lions, ostriches, antelopes, kudus, turtles, Somali donkeys, zebras and porcupines.

Hamoudi Mosque

A stellar mix of historical worth and religious significance, the Hamoudi Mosque in Djibouti City is one of the oldest mosques in the country. This more than 100 year old mosque is made in Abbassid architectural style and is hallmarked by its towering minaret that royally dominates most of the city’s skyline.

European Quarter

The European Quarter is a famous city square and one of the busiest places in Djibouti. It has a classical lineup of historical monuments and contemporary shopping complexes, and is usually full of local residents and foreign tourists. It is so because this city square is home to a number of tourist-friendly attractions like cafes, night clubs, bars, restaurants and shops. A brisk walk through the European Quarter would lead a visitor to the Plateau du Serpent area that plays host to several administrative centers and buildings.
