Odessa National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet

Odessa National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet is the oldest theatre in Odessa, Ukraine. It was opened in 1810, destroyed by fire in 1873 and was reconstructed in 1887. This classical Neo-Baroque marvel is signed in with a seamlessly integrated with late French Rococo and Italian Baroque architectural styles at certain parts. Central Park of Culture and Recreation of Taras Shevchenko (or Shevchenko Park)

Shevchenko Park or Central Park of Culture and Recreation of Taras Shevchenko is named in honor of Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861). He was an eminent Ukrainian poet and author, and his literary works are regarded the source of modern literature in the country. This famous park was opened in September 1875 and was visited by the then Russian Emperor Alexander II few days later. Some of the notable landmarks in the park include a Monument to Alexander II of Russia, Monument to Taras Shevchenko, Alley of Glory (with Monument to the Unknown Sailor) and ruins of the Green Theatre.

Odessa City Garden

The Odessa City Garden is the oldest park in Odessa. Located scenically in the city center, this early 19th century public garden is focally known for the summer theatre of the Odessa Orchestra and the pavilion. These two star highlights are seconded by several sculptures and monuments. The Odessa City Garden also consists of some beautiful music fountains. Visitors can also go to the local shops here to enjoy chocolates and warm coffee. It is best to visit here during the autumn season when the garden is all covered in a golden-reddish appearance.

Odessa Archaeological Museum

Founded in 1825, the Odessa Archaeological Museum is one of the oldest archaeological museums in Ukraine. It wows thousands of visitors every year with its top-notch collection of over 160000 artifacts of archaeological, ecological and historical significance in the country. It is home to Ukraine’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian stone coffins and archeological discoveries from Black Sea region. Another impossible to miss attraction in the museum is a staggering collection of over 50000 coins and several artifacts related to ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Russian empires.
