Dating back to the 17th century, Temple of La Santa Cruz was built on the site where Queretaro finally surrendered to the Spaniards. At present, this temple is one of the main attractions of the city. Other than its historical importance, the temple also features cross shape spines growing in the shrubs of temple's gardens. Visitors can take the guided tours to explore the small art gallery, convent, and the room where Emperor Maximilian I spent his last night before his execution.
