Narikala Fortress
Also named as the Mother Fortress of Tbilisi, Narikala Fortress is an ancient symbol of the city's defense. Built in the 4th century, this fortress was then known as Shuris-tsikhe. Narikala Fortress was explanted remarkably by the Arabs in the 7th and 8th centuries and the Arabs also constructed the Emir's palace within the walls of this fortress. Visitors must also take a walk along the Narikala tourist route running from the top of the ridge near the Mother Georgia statue, around Narikala Fortress, and into the Old Town. This trail offers magnificent views and is a certain delight at night when the city lights are illuminated below.
Georgian National Museum
An excellent place to visit for history buffs, Georgian National Museum tracks the development of the material culture of Georgia from the Bronze Age to the early 20th century. Boasting a history of more than 160 years, Tbilisi State Opera is named after legendary Georgian composer Zakaria Paliashvili. This opera house has gone through six renovations till now as it has faced two raging fire- in 1874 and 1973. Old Town
Located at the foot of the majestic hill crowned by the Narikala Fortress, Old Town is a labyrinth of slender streets with old brick houses. In the town, the structural design is a blend of two influences, the winding streets of an Arabic or Asian town mixed with classical Russian, European, and Art Nouveau style of architecture.
