Albury Botanic Gardens are located in the heart of the Albury city. They are spread across four hectares of lush greenery that features over a thousand native and exotic plant species, thus making it a calm and tranquil place for both relaxing and sightseeing the immense natural beauty that it offers. Albury Botanic Gardens also feature a miniature section or the children’s garden that has some attractions like a small fairy temple, a life-sized dinosaur and a troll cave.
Monument Hill War Memorial
Erected in 1924 AD, the Monument Hill War Memorial is dedicated to the armed men and women who had laid down their lives during the First World War. The Monument Hill is the second best place in the city (after the Albury Botanic Gardens) to appreciate native flora that is so typical of the city. This war memorial is also a photographer’s delight for its enthralling 360-degree view of the city.
Bonegilla Migrant Experience
Australia, like Canada, has been largely formed by immigrants post the First World War. The Bonegilla Migrant Experience was incepted as a Bonegilla Army Camp during the Second World War but was later turned into Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre in 1947 that was catering to 200,000 migrants. Today it is marked with many old huts and buildings that are reminiscent of those troublesome days and tell a different story of how it used to feel like living those trying times here.
