Hadrian's Gate
The Hadrian's Gate or Uckap?lar is a triumphal arch located in Antalya, Turkey, which was built in the honor of the Roman emperor Hadrian, who visited the city in 130 AD. This majestic triple arched marble entrance has rich sculptural art to its credit and has two towers made of stone blocks. It must be noted that the towers belong to two different eras and are few centuries apart in terms of antiquity. The ceilings on Hadrian’s Gate are really beautiful and they steal the show with their carvings. Definitely a must watch here!
Aspendos
It is outright impossible to think of an ancient Roman settlement and not think about its army and amphitheatres. While the legendary Roman army may not be standing here anymore, a third century amphitheatre in Aspendos is still present. This amphitheatre is considered to be one of the best in its kind and is visited by many visitors every year. The theatre hosts the annual Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival (organized by Turkish State Opera and Ballet) with international participation of opera and ballet companies.
