A city in Central Vietnam, Hue was the national capital from 1802-1945 and was the seat of Nguyen Dynasty. The city is rated high in terms of a center of cultural and historical value. There is a plethora of tombs, pagodas, and several other types of buildings linking the past to the present around the beautiful countryside the city. The major attractions in the city include the historic monuments, though many of them were ruined but fortunately not totally destroyed.

Hue Imperial City
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hue Imperial City is a walled fortress and palace located in the city. The grounds of the fortress and palace are protected by fortified ramparts and ringed by a moat. Imperial City features hundreds of monuments and ruins, such as the royal tombs, pagodas, flag tower, Forbidden Purple City, library, temples, and museum.

Ho Quyen
A historical tiger fighting arena, Ho Quyen was built by Minh Mang dynasty in 1832 to host fights between tigers and elephants. These fights are not held in present but there are still some claw marks left on its walls. Ho Quyen is located at a distance of around three kilometers from Hue.

Thien Mu Pagoda
Most famous pagoda in the city, Thien Mu Pagoda was built by Emperor Thieu Tri in 1844. The pagoda features golden Buddha images at the base. It also boasts a big bell and a stone turtle holding a marble stele. Thien Mu Pagoda is famed for being the home of monastery of Thich Quang, who was a Buddhist monk who traveled to Saigon and burned himself to death in order to protest gainst the then government in 1963.
