The building was initially created as a court theater during the rule of Jerome Bonaparte (Napoleon's Brother). The interior of the building has been designed in a splendid manner. The decoration in the ball room including the crystal chandeliers leaves every visitor speechless.
Lion's Castle
Lion's Castle is a scenic attraction within the Bergpark Wilhelmshohe. Visitors from a distance have a misconception that the building is a Middle Age romantic knight's castle. The fact is that it was constructed in between 1793-1801 as a pesudo-medieval ancestral castle by Landgrave Wilhelm IX, the then commissioner of Hesse-Cassel.
