Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge
A United States National Wildlife Refuge in Kodiak Archipelago, Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge includes southwestern two-thirds of Kodiak Island. The refuge boasts seven major rivers and around 100 streams. The refuge has six native species of mammals: Kodiak brown bear, river otter, tundra vole, little brown bat, red fox, and ermine. Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge is also home to around 250 avifauna species.
Kodiak Military History Museum
An excellent place to learn about the history of the Army and Navy on Kodiak Island and the Harbor Defenses front, Kodiak Military History Museum is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Kodiak. The museum is located inside a bunker that is a part of a restoration effort started in 1980s. This bunker is also a great spot for photographers to get sunrise photos.
Alutiiq Museum
Offering the best insight into the island's heritage, Alutiiq Museum boasts an impressive collection including around 100,000 artifacts, 50,000 photos, and a collection of around 250,000 historical pieces. Alutiiq Museum houses much of the history of the Alutiiq Natives on the island.
