The village and civil parish, Manston is situated in Kent, England. The area comprises of four hamlets and a former airport. Originally it was known as Mannestone meaning "farm on top of a hill". In the region were discovered an Anglo-Saxon sword and near about 200 graves including a Roman stone providing the evidence that the place has been occupied from several centuries. The Isle of Thanet Poor Law Union opened children's home here in the year 1901. Manston became a prominent place as an aircraft base was setup here during World War I and II.
