Santa Maria delle Grazie church is a classic example of Gothic architecture. It is flanked by a six-sided Early Renaissance style dome. However, it is not just the architectural superiority of this iconic church that is the cause of all praise, you should also skip the line to see Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece - the Last Supper. This painting depicts an intriguing scene where Jesus Christ reveals during a dinner that he knew about the impending betrayal by one of his disciples, Judas. The tilted saltshaker and leavened bread in the painting have also been subjected to a lot many interpretations, one of them being of purported mischief by Judas.
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the world's oldest shopping malls and is located inside a four-story double arcade in central Milan. It was built in 1877 AD in the reign of King Victor Emmanuel II. Its structure consists of two glass-vaulted arcades intersecting in an octagon that covers a street by an arched glass and cast iron roof. The central octagonal space is topped with a glass dome. This is one of the best places in the country to have a cup of coffee and a freshly baked pizza amidst a number of luxury shops.
La Scala Theatre
First opened in 1778 AD, the La Scala Theatre is one of the world’s most renowned opera and ballet houses. It has been a center of numerous mesmerizing performances by some of the maestros like Callas and Pavarotti. La Scala Theatre is home to the La Scala Theatre Chorus, La Scala Theatre Ballet and La Scala Theatre Orchestra. The Museo Teatrale alla Scala (La Scala Theatre Museum) is accessible from the theatre's foyer and has a collection of paintings, drafts, statues, costumes and other documents regarding La Scala's history.
