Spottrup Castle
The highlight of Skive is a medieval castle called Spottrup Castle. It is the oldest surviving structure in Denmark and lies near the North Sea. It is now been turned into a museum and a medicinal herb garden that would take a couple of hours to explore. As a historical souvenir, Spottrup Castle also has some centuries old furniture and artifacts with historical descriptions on them. The castle museum is open to visitors from mid-April to the end of October.
Skive Kunstmuseum (Skive Art Museum)
The Skive Art Museum has a wide collection of modern Danish art, the centre of it being the New Realism paintings. The Museum has a stuffed polar bear that was donated to the city by the Greenlandic city of Scoresbysund. Other notable attractions in Skive include the Fur Museum (it mostly features exhibits fossils found in the city) and the Monsted Limestone Caves (it’s a home to thousands of bats in winters).
