St Louis Vacation Packages & Travel Deals

While the name may sound religious and regal at the same time, Saint Louis is neither. It is an American city that first made the headlines in 1847 AD when Dred Scott, an Afro-American slave, sued the State against his abject slavery. He was denied justice and this inexcusable howler (among many other things) catapulted US into a Civil War. The city has come a long way ever since to evolve as the confluence of Afro-American culture with nearby that of regions to be dubbed as the Gateway to the West. St Louis is where people go to see, amidst other mega structures, the iconic Gateway Arch and return too mesmerized with it. A visitor may also be particularly stirred by the nineteenth century wonders, Old Cathedral and Missouri Botanical Garden.
Places of Interest in Saint Louis
Gateway Arch
Welcome to St. Louis where you’ll be courted to the exquisite delight of beholding this stunning 630 feet high mega arch. Ahead of being the tallest arch in the world, it also has to its credit a reputation of being a monument of the westward expansion of the United States. Visitors also describe the surreal experience of looking at the city from the top of Gateway Arch as one of the most incredible. Once done, you may also pay a visit to the Visitor Center and the Museum of Westward Expansion that are situated at the foot of Gateway Arch.
Old Cathedral (Basilica of St Louis, King)
Founded in 1770 AD and now situated alongside Gateway Arch, the Cathedral (or the Basilica of St. Louis King of France) once had an envious distinction of being the only parish church in the city. The church distinctly relates itself with Greek revival style and has an exquisite display of marble altars and a painting of Saint Louis with the Crown of Thorns given by Louis XVIII, King of France.
Missouri Botanical Garden
Founded in 1859 AD, Missouri Botanical Garden is a horticulture wonder spread across eighty sprawling acres of greenery. It is the oldest of all botanical gardens in America and is known for its rose garden and its collection of endangered orchids. Missouri Botanical Garden also has a state of the art greenhouse called Climatron, and is considered a must visit.
