Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle is a late 11th century Victorian Gothic revival mansion in Cardiff, standing on the site of a former 3rd century Roman fort. The castle was built by Norman invaders to defend the city from Welsh invaders and was built as a sum of three fortresses rolled into one. The castle is noted for its 150 feet high Clock Tower (built in 1868), the Arab Room in the Herbert Tower, and a Moorish style jelly mould ceiling. These two masterpieces were created by the eminent 19th century architect and designer- William Burge. Cardiff Castle is also noted for its State Apartments, the Chaucer Room, and gardens.

National Museum Cardiff

Founded in 1905, the National Museum Cardiff is a museum and art gallery in Cardiff. It is home to a remarkable collection of several collectibles pertaining to archaeology, botany, fine and applied art, geology and zoology. A star attraction here is the museum’s Clore Discovery Centre that consists of 7.5 million specimens of insects, fossils and Bronze Age weapons. The National Museum Cardiff’s dedicated art facility called the National Museum of Art is home to a remarkable collection of several Impressionist paintings by Picasso and Monet, and numerous sculptures and ceramics that date back to 16th century.

St. Fagans National Museum of History

St. Fagans National Museum of History is an open-air museum in the grounds of an Elizabethan manor house - the St. Fagans Castle. It connects some salient aspects of 19th century Welsh rural, cultural, architectural and industrial identities through a lineup of more than 40 recreated buildings and their traditional interiors. Visitors are often impressed with its old structural parts such as a nonconformist chapel, a schoolhouse and a tannery. St Fagans National Museum of History also has a blacksmith forge, pottery, weaver, miller, and clog maker besides two working water mills. This museum also hosts the Everyman Summer Theatre Festival that focally revolves around a Shakespearean play since its founding at Dyffryn in 1983.

Cardiff Bay

Cardiff city’s bayside area along Cardiff Bay comprises nearly 2700 acres of a former dockland. It is dotted with posh residential and corporate buildings, restaurants, theaters and parks. Visitors are impressed with some of its highlights like a late 19th century Pierhead Building (a redbrick building that has several artifacts related to the history of Wales), Mermaid Quay (a waterfront shopping and dining district) the Senedd (this architectural marvel hosts the National Assembly for Wales) and Techniquest (an interactive science center and planetarium).
