Ahsan Manjil

Standing on the river, Ahsan Manjil is a stately building offering a sense of the lifestyle of the Nawabs of Dhaka. Built in 1872, this building is sometimes known as Pink Palace and is also home to an impressive museum. It was a residence of the Nawabs in the past and boasts 31 rooms with immense dome atop. Ahsan Manjil is an epitome of the rich cultural heritage of the nation. The building remains closed for public on Thursday.

Lalbagh Fort

Also known as the Fort of Aurangabad, Lalbagh Fort was buildt in 1678 by Prince Mohammad Azam, the then Viceroy of Bengal, who was the som of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. This fort is a three stories structure featuring narrow minarets at the South Gate and also features a number of hidden passages and a mosque. The major attractions at Lalbagh Fort are the Tomb of Pari Bibi, Hummam Khana, and audience room of Nawab Shaista Khan, which is now home to a museum.

Central Shahid Minar

Built to commemorate the martyrs of the historic Language movement of 1952, Central Shahid Minar is a symbol of Bengali nationalism. On 21st February every year, hundreds of thousands of people with bouquet and floral wreaths gather in order to pay respect in a solemn atmosphere.

Bangladeshi National Museum

Located in Shahbagh, Bangladeshi National Museum is at the central point of the city. This museum is home to a large amount of impressive assortment that includes paintings and sculptures of the Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim periods as well as inscriptions of holy Quran in Persian and Arabic languages and Bengali works in the Arabic script. Bangladeshi National Museum also boasts a notable collection of metal images, old coins, silver filigree works, books on art, and more.
