Morne Trois Pitons National Park
Morne Trois Pitons National Park is a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site in Dominica. It features many tourist attractions like Boiling Lake, Freshwater Lake, Boeri Lake and Middleham Falls. This famous national park is named after its highest mountain - Morne Trois Pitons which means a mountain of three peaks. The park is famous for its volcanic activity and some of the star highlights here comprise of geological features like boiling mud ponds and small geysers like Titou Gorge and Emerald Pool.
The Boiling Lake
Boiling Lake is the most significant feature of Morne Trois Pitons National Park in Dominica. It is the world’s second largest hot lake and is hallmarked by bubbling grey water enveloped in a cloud of vapors and emitting sharp smell of sulfur. The temperature of this 60-meter wide lake varies from 180 to 197 deg F at the corners and is around 212 deg F (boiling temperature of water) at the center.

Dominica Botanical Gardens is one of the finest botanical gardens in the West Indies. Some major plant species found here are Dominica’s national tree and flower (called the bois kwaib), in addition to cannonball tree, century palm tree and ylang ylang tree. Some of the major endemic species found here include two endemic lizard species (called the Dominican ground lizard and the Dominican anole) and two endangered parrot species (locally known as the Jacko and the Sisserou).
