Schloss Benrath (or Benrath Palace)

Schloss Benrath (also known as Benrath Palace in English) is the first chapter of Baroque architecture and posh elegance in Dusseldorf because of its delightful appearance, original interiors and colorful gardens. It was built for Elector Palatine Charles Theodor and his wife between 1755 and 1770. Schloss Benrath hosts three museums that portray the aristocratic life of mid - to late-18th century. The first of these museums, Museum Corps de Logis, highlights the palace’s history and architecture; while the other two (called the Museum for Landscape Art and the Natural Science Museum) focus on 18th century artworks and ecological discoveries respectively.

Museum Kunstpalast (The Museum of Art)

The Museum of Art in Dusseldorf is home to a scintillating collection of artworks of last 2500 years, from 3rd century BC till date. It is focally known for its remarkable collection of fine arts and sculptures dating back to Classical antiquity period to the present. Visitors are often wowed by its collection of 70000 items of graphic artworks, photographs, applied arts and designs in addition to 14000 Italian graphics related to Baroque and Renaissance periods. Some other highlights here include Glass Museum by Helmut Hentrich and a modern art collection by Warhol.

Konigsallee (King’s Avenue)

Located in Dusseldorf, the Konigsallee is Germany's busiest and most elegant shopping street. It is focally known for its early 19th century canal (that is fed by Dussel River) and iron bridges, and is home to modern fashion showrooms and luxury retail stores. Konigsallee used to be one of the world’s fashion capitals during 1950s. It is still largely credited for putting the German fashion industry on the world map through some iconic events like the open-air Igedo Fashion Fair in 1949 that later went on to assume a cult status across the world.

Altstadt (or ‘Old Town’)

The Altstadt is a borough in Dusseldorf. It is home to ‘the Longest Bar in the World’ (locally known as Langste Theke der Welt) because of its conglomeration of over 300 bars and discotheques. Alstadt is uniquely known for its beer called Altbier (or ‘Old Beer’), which is produced in very few cities around the world. It is brewed using some traditional recipes and techniques. Some notable visitor attractions in Alstadt include Basilica St. Lambertus, the Old City Hall (Rathaus), an equestrian statue of Jan Wellem and Rhine Tower. Also of note is Castle Tower that hosts Schifffahrtmuseum Dusseldorf, which is one of Germany's best and oldest marine museums.
