Timanfaya National Park
Timanfaya National Park is named after an active volcano that had buried several villages under its lava sometime after 1730 AD. The park wows thousands of visitors every year with its volcanic landscape that has remained unchanged since its eruption. Cueva de los Verdes (Green's Cave)
Cueva de los Verdes (also called Green's Cave in English language) is a 3000-year old cave formed by an eruption of the adjacent Monte Corona and its lava flow. Several caverns and tunnels were formed by an underground river of lava over a period of time. The lava streams later cooled down into a thick crust, leaving behind several melted rock and mineral formations. Cueva de los Verdes feature a concert hall that can hold upto 500 people.
Jameos del Agua
Jameos del Agua is a famous volcanic tunnel and set of caverns. It is a dramatic result of a 4000-year old volcanic activity that had left the ceiling of an underground lava tunnel collapsed resulting in the evolution of a tunnel. Many hundreds of years ago, Lanzarote’s inhabitants used to hide themselves in this cave to protect themselves from their invaders. The noted Spanish artist and architect, Cesar Manrique, later developed this tunnel artistically to include a bar, restaurant, swimming pool and a concert hall in 1966.
