Bujumbura
The capital and the largest city of Burundi, Bujumbura is located on the north-eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika, which is the second deepest lake in the world. It is the main port of the country. The city features a tropical savanna climate with distinct dry and wet seasons. The wet season in Bujumbura is from October through April and the remaining five months are of dry season. This steamy little city has retained much of its grandiose colonial town planning, with imposing public buildings and wide boulevards. With a lot of tourist attractions, the city is excellent as a vacation destination. Some of the major tourist attractions in Bujumbura include Livingstone–Stanley Monument, the Reptile Park, and Rusizi River National Park.
Bururi
Just few hours away from Bujumbura, the city of Bururi is home to the enormous Bururi Forest Nature Reserve, managed and operated by the Institute National pour l’ Environment et la Conservation de la nature. Covering an area of about 15 sq km, the nature reserve offers a wealth of afro-montane tropical trees and shrubs.
Lake Tanganyika
Considered as the second biggest freshwater lake on earth, Lake Tanganyika is very popular among nature lovers. Divers can explore the rich underwater of the lake housing 250 species of cichlid fish and 150 other species of different marine creatures.
