Val Verde Winery
The oldest winery in the state of Texas, Val Verde Winery is a great place for wine-lovers to satiate their tongue’s thirst for the tingling taste of a Mexican cerveza or lime-laced margarita. This winery sits in the center of the city and has 12 acres of the land where the winery got its start in 1883. This winery was started under the guidance of Frank Qualia, who was a farmer who immigrated to Texas. Visitors, along with learning the method of wine-making, can enjoy a glass of quality wine.
Amistad National Recreation Area
Located near the city of Del Rio, Amistad National Recreation Area is a park unit managed by National Park Service. The area includes the region around the Amistad Reservoir at the confluence of the Rio Grande, the Pecos River, and the Devils River. In the area, visitors can enjoy a plethora of water-based recreation activities all round the year. The area is affluent in archeology and rock art.
Whitehead Memorial Museum
Located in downtown Del Rio, Whitehead Memorial Museum consists of nine buildings. The museum features thirteen exhibits with period artifacts, most from the 19th century, showcasing the history of Val Verde County. Within the museum grounds the graves of the frontier Justice of the Peace Roy Bean and his son Sam Bean as well as a replica of "The Jersey Lilly" saloon.
