Peabody Essex Museum

Huang family's two-century-old ancestral home is perhaps the most outstanding exhibit in the museum. This home was brought here and assembled from the Huizhou region of China.
Salem Maritime National Historic Site
Preserving the local maritime history, Salem Maritime National Historic Site includes around 9 acres along the waterfront and 12 historical buildings that preserve the 18th and 19th century maritime history of Salem. This site is also a permanent home of tall ship Friendship, which is a reconstructed commercial sailing vessel dating back to 18th century.
House of Seven Gables
A collection of colonial homes, House of Seven Gables includes one of the oldest surviving wooden mansions in New England. This site was used by Nathaniel Hawthorne as the background for his famous novel of the same name. Visitors can hire a guide who will lead them up the secret curving staircases and recount the past of its former occupants. Tourists can also view the period artifacts, paintings, and photos.
