The scenic city of Sioux Falls lies within a day’s drive from the most Midwestern cities of the US. It is a curious mix of a traditional city with a pulsating ambience, and stands as an interesting option for travelling in this year’s vacations. Sioux Falls derives its name from a beautiful waterfall that flows through the middle of a natural wonder called Falls Park. Standing here, one can view the waterfall and most of the major buildings of the city. Worthy of a polite mention here is the Phillips Avenue. It is one of the main streets of the downtown and is known for its specialty shops and sculptures on the street corners. The bakeries of the city are famous too, and you should try some of the local delicacies like homemade buttermilk biscuits and Bourbon Pecan Pie here.
Sioux Falls has a wide range of other tourist attractions too. You should start your day with a walk into Delbridge Museum of Natural History (it has 150 mounted specimens of wildlife) and Old Courthouse Museum (housed inside a national historic landmark). Next up is the wide assortment of attractions like USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial (the most decorated American battleship of WW II), Sertoma Butterfly House (it has 800 different types of butterflies), Great Plains Zoo (it has more than 500 different types of animals) and Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion (has multiple classic exhibits and most of them are free).
