Located along the Hadseloya Island, Stokmarknes is a small town in the municipality of Hadsel in Nordland county, Norway. It is the administrative centre of Hadsel municipality and is known for its scenic location and beautiful landscape. Stokmarknes is preferred by visitors in winters because the island and the nearby mountains together provide a stunning background to the town’s beauty. One would also find it amazing to visit a museum built in a local ship. This museum is called the Coastal Express Museum and is built on a hundred year old ship called MS Finnmarken. Another must visit attraction in the town is a two hundred year old church called Hadsel Church.

Hadsel Church
Located about five kilometers east of Stokmarknes, Hadsel Church is a parish church in Hadsel village of Nordland county. It is interesting to note that the first church was constructed at this very site in fourteenth century and owing to repeated demolitions at the site, the Hadsel Church is the fourth one here. It was constructed in 1824 AD and has a seating capacity of five hundred people. A related attraction here is Melbu Church. It was built in 1938 AD and has a seating capacity of 250 people.
Hurtigruten Museum
This is time travel. Welcome to the Hurtigruten Museum and let it take you on a tour through the evolution of shipping history in the region. You will be impressed by its vast collection of various safety equipments and written procedures that were employed in the past and current times. Of special mention here is the landlocked MS Finnmarken, which is known as the world’s biggest museum artifact and stands close to the museum. This vintage ship used to ferry passengers from the middle to the end of twentieth century.
