A city and village in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area in the US state of Alaska, Kaltag is located on the west bank of Yukon River. The city is located at few hours of driving distance from Koyukuk National Wildlife Refuge, which is the prime attraction for the tourists visiting Kaltag.
Koyukuk National Wildlife RefugeA conservation area spanning 14,000 square kilometers in Alaska, Koyukuk National Wildlife Refuge is located within the floodplain of the Koyukuk River in a basin that stretches from the Yukon River to the spectacular Purcell Mountains and the foothills of the Brooks Range. This enormous region of wetlands is home to waterfowl, fish, and Alaskan moose. The wooded lowlands of Koyukuk National Wildlife Refuge are home to two species of fox, wolf, bear, marten, and Canadian lynx.
