Intramuros
Intramuros, spread across 0.26 square miles, is a historic walled area in
the city of Manila. This area was built by the Colonial Spanish government
in the late 16th century to protect the city from foreign invasions.
Intramuros hosted the seat of Colonial Spanish government and doubled up as
the axis of all education and economy.
Ayala Museum
Ayala Museum is home to a remarkable collection showcased on four floors of
superbly curated exhibits on Filipino culture, art and history. At the hub
of the collection is an assortment of 60 dioramas related to the country’s
history. Another point of attraction in the museum is a good collection of
pre-Hispanic gold jewelry and ornaments made of precious stones.
Fort Santiago
Fort Santiago is a citadel originally constructed by Spanish conquistador,
Miguel Lopez de Legazpi for the new established city of Manila in late 16 th century. This fort is a part of Intramuros and witnessed the
worst of Spanish Colonia era and Second World War. It is Fort Santiago
where national hero, Jose Rizal, was executed by the Spanish in 1896 and
many American Prisoners of War were massacred here during the War in 1940s.
Best Time to Visit Manila
Winter season, the months from December to March are the best to book
