Teatro Solís (or Solis Theatre)
Solis Theatre is the most important and renowned theatre in Uruguay.
Designed by Italian architect Carlo Zucchi and opened in 1856, it is
located close to the Plaza Independencia. It became famous in 1878 with the
screening of the premiere of the country’s first opera, La Parisina.
Palacio Taranco
Opened in 19109 AD, the Palacio Taranco comprises the Museum of Decorative
Arts. It is also a subject of great architectural craftsmanship, both
inside and outside. You should come here to see period European furniture.
It was built on the same place where once the city’s first theatre used to
