San Antonio Missions, designated the state’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, were all built in early 18^th century by the Spanish exploders to colonize the region. The most eminent among them is the Alamo or Mission Valero that saw a gruesome battle between the defending Americans and invading Mexican forces. Other famed missions here are Mission San Jose, Mission Concepción and Mission San Juan.
