Guadalajara, the capital and largest city of the state of Jalisco, is the
seat of the municipality of Guadalajara in Mexico. Dubbed the ‘Pearl of the
West’, this city is the cultural axis of the country and is said to be the

Regional Museum of Guadalajara
Regional Museum of Guadalajara, housed in an 18th century
educational institution, is a 100-year-old, centrally-located museum in the
city. The museum features several historically-significant architectural
discoveries that date back to Pre-Columbian era. Prime attraction here is
an 800-kilogram meteorite and numerous Colonial-era artworks.
Guadalajara Zoo
Guadalajara Zoo is one of the largest and most significant zoos in Latin
America. Home to a great number of native animals like Mexican wolves, it
is home to some rare species too like white lions, Bengal tigers and black
panthers. The interiors feature a large aquarium, a reptile house and
several birdcages.
Hospicio Cabanas
Hospicio Cabanas is one of the oldest and largest hospital complexes in the
Americas. It was built in early 19th century and features over 20 baroquely
designed patios. It has served as an orphanage, a workhouse, and a shelter
for the feeble and the poor since its creation. Hospicio Cabanas features
some classic French and Spanish frescoes on its insides too.
