Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua, is on the southwestern seashore of
Lake Managua. It is the largest city in Nicaragua. The city is a late
bloomer that tragically stopped by a devastating earthquake in 1972. But
now ambitious projects, contemporary malls, and promenade parks along the
lake shore are bringing Managua back to life. While here, do check out Lake
Managua, go souvenir shopping at a local market, visit the old centre,
enjoy views from Loma de Tiscapa, and spend some time at Parque Luis
Alfonso Velazquez, Managua’s biggest and most diverse park. Also, check out
Antigua Cathedral, Arboretum Nacional, and Huellas de Acahualinca.
