Founded in 1571 as a Spanish settlement, Manila is the capital of the

Intramuros
Spread across 0.26 square miles, Intramuros is a historic walled area in
the city of Manila. It was constructed by the Colonial Spanish government
in the late 16th century to defend the city from foreign attacks.
Intramuros was the seat of Colonial Spanish government and developed as the
hub of all education and economy.
Ayala Museum
Ayala Museum is home to a noteworthy collection of encompasses four floors
of superbly curated exhibits on Filipino culture, art and history. At the
middle of the collection is an assortment of 60 dioramas related to the
country’s history. The museum is also home to a good collection of
pre-Hispanic gold jewelry and ornaments made of precious stones.
Fort Santiago
Fort Santiago is a fortress originally built by Spanish conquistador,
Miguel Lopez de Legazpi for the new established city of Manila in late 16 th century. This fort is a part of the Intramuros and saw the
worst of Spanish Colonia era and Second World War. It is this fort where
the national hero, Jose Rizal, was executed by the Spanish in 1896 and many
American Prisoners of War were mascaraed during the War in 1940s.
Best Time to Visit Manila
The best time to book flights from Tampa to Manila is from December to
March. Visitors can book flights from TPA to MNL during winter season to
enjoy Christmas and New Year celebrations. It is advised to book Manila
flights in advance to avoid paying more during peak season.
