Neighborhoods to Book a Hotel in Izmir
The historic area of Konak Square is the hub of all government and business works. Settled in 17th century but reconstructed in 1922 after a major fire accident, the area still looks fascinating. The elaborately ornamented Clock Tower is hard to miss while Konak Mosque is ideal for prayers or photography.
One of the most famous neighborhoods in Izmir, Kordonboyu greets visitors with a spectacular promenade which is ideal for a leisurely walk. The northern part of the area is filled with a diverse range of outdoor bars and cafes. Don’t miss the stunning sunset views near the sea.
Anyone who wants to get an authentic feel of Turkish shopping must visit the Kemeralti Market. The area is massive and while roaming you will find the covered shops of exquisite jewelry and carpets but most of the market area is outdoors. It’s advised to bargain as generally all items are overpriced.
