Long Beach Vacation Packages & Travel Deals

Long Beach is a beautiful coastal and port city in Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. The city’s centre of attraction is the Second World War troopship, Queen Mary, which stands anchored along the Pacific coast. Long Beach also has a long list of other allied attractions like a deep sea adventure at the Aquarium of the Pacific (it has almost a thousand marine species from three regions of the Pacific Ocean) and Walter Pyramid (an indoor, multipurpose arena). Located at just an hour’s trip away from the Long Beach are the Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, and as you can guess, these places are a surefire hit among the kids. If nothing else seems to suit to fantasy, an evening walk along the beach is something that would give you ample to think and cherish about the city.
Places of Interest in Long Beach
Queen Mary
The Queen Mary is a historic Cunard White Star ocean liner that used to carry soldiers during the Second World War. Next to a self-guided tour, a visitor is also offered multiple different tours on the ship and the most notable of them is the Ghosts and Legends tour. The Queen Mary also has recreational facilities like hotel, restaurants and a shopping promenade. The inside of the iconic ship is a piece of art in itself. Influenced by the Art Deco movement of the 1920s, the Queen Mary has some of the grandest and the most intricate of all design elements that were ever put on an ocean liner. You would be impressed by its elaborate arrangement of murals, paintings, sculptures and wood carvings, and this would make a tour inside the ship unforgettable.
Aquarium of the Pacific
The Aquarium of the Pacific is a public aquarium on Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach, California. As the second most prominent tourist attraction in Long Beach, this aquarium attracts almost 1.5 million visitors every year. It has a featured collection of over 11,000 marine and aquatic organisms over 500 different species. Central to this attraction are the inhabitants and seascapes of the Pacific Ocean. The Aquarium of the Pacific is also home to many cultural events throughout the year like the Pacific Islander Festival, and the Moompetam Festival.
Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden
Inaugurated in 1981, the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a colorful Japanese garden in the campus of California State University, Long Beach. It is famous for its beautiful range of plants and flowers, traditional tea house, collection of Chrysanthemums and a pond of Koi fish. This beautiful garden was built by Ed Lovell, who was the chief architect of the University. After being through with the university’s design, he had been to Japan where he was mighty impressed with the Imperial Gardens in Tokyo. When he returned home, he knew what he had to add to the charm of his university and that’s how Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden was incepted.
